More Red
I was looking back through these pictures in this series and I noticed the abundance of red. What can I say? I love red! No, it's not my favorite color, but I do really love it. I decorate with it, I wear it, and I photograph it. Red's just a great color for photography! This is part of a fire hydrant that is much larger, bulkier, and uglier than just the handle. I loved the shadowing and how the sun bounces off various parts of the handle in this shot.

Architecture
I'm still trying to figure out the best way to frame shots that are really high up and contain a lot of detail. My camera is still outfitted with its stock lens, so shooting is really limited right now. This is a decent shot, but I would have loved to have been able to zoom in on just one column. I really played with the contrast and saturation settings in Photoshop to bring out the differences in shadowing. I'd give it a B.

Now for this shot I just rotated my body to left and down. The combination of my towering 5'2" and the lamp's long chain made getting close easier. I love the contrast of the black lamp against the tan stone and the details in the stone's coloring. I was much more pleased with this shot than the one before. .

A Tree
Now, I do have a whole nature/floral series coming up, but this tree definitely falls into the "Random, yet Interesting" series. I love the twisted branches and it's perfect placement in the middle of a courtyard in a church. Again, the symmetry here is astounding to me.

Another Door
I love symmetry in shots, but I also love quirky angles. It actually speaks volumes about who I am as a person: I love order and organization, but I also like to go against the grain. This door and then the handle shot are two of my favorites in this "Random, yet Interesting" series.

A Bike
I've seen some really cool photos of bicycles in my photography journey so I wanted to jump on the proverbial bandwagon (or bikewagon??) and take a stab at bicycle photography. I would love to get a shot of a bunch of bikes, but this one red one will have to do for now. Good luck!

A Window
Continuing with the "Random, Yet Interesting" series is this church window. I think the in-lays are so neat looking and, while I wished I could have gotten more color on the windows, I think the contrast in the picture is cool, too.

Arches...not the Golden Kind
Living in an old, small town makes for some interesting photo opportunities. In fact, the house I live in is 100 years old itself and was one of the first homes to be built. This church has all the character I crave when I'm looking for a cool shot.

A Fountain
I LOVE still water shots, and have seen some truly amazing work with water photography. I was photographing some architecture at a local church and felt like I needed to join the ranks of water photographers! I can't wait to try my hand at some more!

A Wall
Essentially the same shot, but this first one is just a bit brighter and lighter. That's the neat thing about photography: the same location can elicit different results depending on your camera settings and you, the photographer, in that instant.

Random, yet Interesting
I'm going to start off by featuring a series of my most random, yet interesting, photos I've taken up to this point. What I really look for in a shot is balance, interest, and coloring. I like symmetry, but I also like uniqueness in a photo. Enjoy this series. Up next is Americana followed by Nature.

About Me
- Photography by {michelle|kay}
- I'm new to photography and Photoshop, but I'm totally in love. Yeah, yeah, I love my husband and all, but my Canon and CS4--wow! Who knew that shooting photos could be so exciting. I love finding that perfect shot and find myself framing things in my mind wherever I go. My inspiration: Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
